It’s an impressive journey for Amie in what is a predominantly male-centric sector. Amie has always been focused on her career from an early age, having known what path she wanted to take. From an apprenticeship to a qualification in Funeral Services and now as Operations Director at the local firm.
Amie says: “The Operations Director appointment is a real positive for me and for the company, although being a Funeral Director remains my focus, motivation and passion.”
Last year, Amie was Highly Commended in the Connect2Care Heroes Awards 2023. The C2C Awards are an annual celebration that recognises the incredible work of both apprentices and apprenticeship employers across the country.
Amie continued her journey and realised her career goals by becoming a Qualified Funeral Director for the Malvern, Ledbury and surrounding areas of the local business.
Amie confirms: “Whilst I’m now qualified, it was great to be recognised for my hard work when I was an apprentice.”
Since then, Amie has been promoted to Operations Director of Jackson Family Funeral Directors alongside owner Matt Jackson: “Amie’s hard work has paid off and she is quite rightly now Operations Director of the business and able to shape the future of the company.”
Matt continues: “Amie’s role is to manage and adapt the firm’s current services to ensure that we continually increase our already high standards. Whilst still directly serving families as a Funeral Director, Amie will be integral to the key decisions of the Directors when considering future services and products. This will help provide families with the ultimate flexibility to personalise funeral services to what they want and not just what they feel is expected of them from cultural, religious or community pressures.”
Amie will also mentor team members in their training journey. She is currently a mentor to Andrew Foxall, trainee Funeral Director in Upton, and Rachele Watson, trainee Funeral Arranger in Malvern. Both are now able to draw from Amie’s recent experience of modern learning, the newer funeral styles and families’ preferences. This blend of fresh thinking is backed up by the extensive experience of traditional funeral directing from owner Matt Jackson and colleagues Mark Campion and Sarah Hewlett.
“Having a full spectrum of generational Funeral Directors will allow Amie to make key improvements with varying views to cover the broad wishes of the community.” – Matt.
